Jim Martin began practicing employment and labor law in 1989 where he has focused on all areas of employment and labor law.
He has represented both private and public sector clients in a variety of matters and serves as general counsel for clients seeking to ensure compliance with employment and labor law including drafting policies and employee handbooks and providing training on the full range of employment and labor topics. In addition, Jim serves as a hearing officer in termination cases under the Veterans Preference Act and student expulsion matters under the Minnesota Pupil Fair Dismissal Act. Jim has extensive experience conducting investigations of employee misconduct. Clients and other lawyers seeking to ensure a prompt and comprehensive investigation call on Jim to provide investigations. Jim also has extensive experience in public sector employment and labor law gained through his seven years as Executive Director of Human Resources with the Bloomington, MN, Public Schools and five years as Director of Human Resources with the St. Louis Park, MN, Public Schools. Prior to his work in the schools, Jim spent five years representing public and private sector clients on a wide range of employment and labor law issues with a large Twin Cities firm. Jim and his family live in Eden Prairie and he is active in youth coaching as well as numerous civic activities. |
